The Most Coveted Shoe in Fashion Photography - McQueens Armadillos

When it comes to high fashion footwear, practicality is rarely taken into consideration. So, when it comes to designing runway exclusive shoes, the sky’s the limit … and sky-high these shoes are.

We pay respect to the shoes most coveted by the international fashion press: Alexander McQueen’s infamous “Armadillos” shoes.

Now, you either love or hate them, there doesn’t seem to be much in between.

But when you look at this editorial published in Velvet Magazine shot by Marcus Ohlsson, “Model Ragnhild Jevne stalks a dusty, sepia and rust-toned lunar landscape in the claw-like, exoskeletal heels, and her flowing, windblown clothes, and a poufy white afro evoke a surreal '70s mission-to-Mars. The results are slightly creepy but quietly beautiful, like she's a shipwrecked alien lost in another world. And to think—without McQueen’s “armadillos” she'd have been just another beautiful girl wandering the desert.”

I think these 10 inch stilettos are "out of this world-great" … for photoshoots that is! How those McQueen models made it down the runway is beyond me. Respect is due.

If you, for one second, thought about getting yourself a pair … think again about those US$ 13.395 you are going to have to let go of in order to call them your own. But considering that we have the tallest, biggest and most expensive everything in Dubai, it can only be a question of time until we see these most coveted fashion treasures on our soil ... I shall wait in great anticipation and keep enjoying further editorials with the 'dillos.
